These super simple hors d'oeuvres have been a family tradition for decades. They are a tasty delight that will be devoured as quickly as they are served. The mix can be made a day or two in advance, making them the perfect appetizer for holiday gatherings, or any time you are feeling fancy.
Ingredients
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated or shredded parmesan cheese (or a combination)
1 bunch green onions chopped
ground black pepper, to taste
1 baguette sourdough bread, sliced ½ inch thick (for best results slice the bread 1-day ahead and allow it to dry out a bit)
Preparation
Preheat oven or toaster oven to broil.
Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange sourdough slices on it.
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until well mixed
Spread a thin layer of hotsie totsie mixture onto the sourdough slices.
Broil until golden and bubbly (about 3-5 minutes).
Let them cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.
Tips
Keep an eye on them while they are broiling as they sometimes cook faster than expected. Any unused prepared mixture can be kept for up to a week in the fridge.
